Dear Baldwin County Citizen,
As the sworn representative of the People in our criminal courts, my duties as your District Attorney are unlike any other in the legal system.
This 19th Century opinion offered in Fout v. State, 4 Tenn. 98 (1816) still holds true today, stating that a District Attorney is:
“to pursue guilt; to protect innocence; to judge the circumstances, and according to their true complexion, to combine the public welfare and the safety of the citizens, preserving both, and not impairing either; to decline the use of individual passions and malevolence, when he cannot use them for the advantage of the public; and to lay hold of them where public justice, in sound discretion, requires it…”
The attorneys, victim service officers and entire administrative staff of the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office are committed to seeking justice, holding offenders accountable and serving victims.
Our citizens rely on the truth and dignity of the courts, the integrity of our leaders, the professionalism of our partners in law enforcement, the courage of witnesses, and the perseverance of victims. Working together, we can keep Baldwin County a safe place to live, work and play.
Hallie S. Dixon, District Attorney
