Looking back, looking ahead …
I marvel at the progress we have made. We have accomplished many goals and implemented new ideas and attitudes during a transitional period filled with unique challenges.
It has taken teamwork and many extra hours, but we are finally at a point where we can catch our breath, fine-tune our processes and close out the last of the backlogged cases.
Don’t get me wrong — 2012 won’t be a cake walk. Funding issues are likely to strain our resources — perhaps even more than in 2011 — as appropriations dwindle and grant programs dry up.
However, I have seen how my staff can step up to the plate and make things work, especially in challenging conditions.
So for 2012, I am counting my blessings, and looking forward to a year of continued progress, promise, and justice for Baldwin County’s crime victims.

| Greetings!
Our first year in in office has flown by, and we are proud of what we have accomplished so far. I hope this newsletter makes you proud, too, because we cannot do it without the support of citizens like you. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your interest in and support of the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office!
Your District Attorney,
Hallie S. Dixon

New Year’s Resolution #1:
Keep in touch
Working long hours, weekends and holidays to get a lot done is sometimes a necessity, but we shouldn’t allow our work ethic to get in the way of keeping in touch with friends and family.
Our resolution for 2012 is to do increase our communications with the citizens of Baldwin County. We want to let you know the triumphs, challenges and progress of your District Attorney’s Office.
One way we will be doing this is by sending you this brief, monthly e-newsletter. We hope you will enjoy it!

New Year’s Resolution #2:
Stay accountable
In our effort to stay accountable to the Citizens of Baldwin County, we will soon release our first Report to the People.
This report will brief you on what we have accomplished in 2011, and our goals for 2012.
We hope you will take a few minutes to review it and let us know your thoughts about how we can accomplish even more for Baldwin County in the coming year.

New Year’s Resolution #3:
Be a community resource
When you add up all the years of education and professional experience possessed by our staff, you realize that our Office has a lot to give the community.
We want to help your school, community or church group learn more about how the justice system works, how to protect yourself and your loved ones, and how new laws might affect you, among other topics of interest.
As you plan your programming for 2012, please consider how we can lend you our expertise. Please call or email Martha Simmons (mmsimmons@baldwincountyal.gov) to discuss program ideas and scheduling.
